We had originally planned to build an off-the-grid house in our forest in Tasmania. However, we found ourselves trapped far away interstate by pandemic travel restrictions and weren’t able to get on site. Needing to urgently build a house anywhere in Tasmania, so that – when pandemic restrictions finally lifted – we could move to it in time to start our daughter’s school term, we quickly purchased another plot and engaged a builder, still in absentia but with easier decisions to make.
This is the story of the house that we designed and had built, and the landscaping that I did afterward.
