A Forest in Tasmania

It may sound odd, but I have always wanted to have my own forest to hang out in, where nobody could bother me and, perhaps more importantly, nobody could bother it. Over the years I had idly looked at a few on my travels around the world, but nothing had really caught my eye and I’d gradually let the whole idea slide to the back of my mind.

One wine-fuelled evening, Bronwyn and I were discussing what we might do when we returned from our upcoming sailing trip, and we chanced upon the topic of retirement plans. I hesitantly brought up the idea of buying a forest as a private retreat from civilisation, and to my surprise Bronwyn said, “Well, let’s find one, then.”

This is the story of how we found our forest, and what we did with it.
